See the endangered Turks and Caicos Rock Iguanas

Turks and Caicos calls itself home to the strikingly beautiful but endangered Turks and Caicos Rock Iguana and you can visit them at Little Water Cay Nature Reserve. The reserve boasts several different habitats, such as coastal scrub and hyper-saline and tidal flat areas.

We spoke to Alexandra Resort who said: “Many of our guests have thoroughly enjoyed their visits to Little Water Cay. It’s an experience which is unique to Turks and Caicos and is always popular with families.”

“Although the Rock Iguanas certainly are a special part of the nature reserve, you may even catch a glimpse of a hermit crab or a lemon shark whilst you’re there, so it’s definitely a place to put at the top of your to-do list!”

Visit a conch farm

Turks and Caicos is actually home to the world’s only commercial conch farm where you can see where this staple in the Caribbean diet is born and raised. Here you’ll learn all about the life cycle of the Caribbean Queen Conch, from egg mass collection through to harvesting, and you’ll even be given a quick biology lesson outlining the basics of this fascinating creature.

Because conch is such a popular food and source of protein in the Caribbean, thousands of conch are reared at the farm and, once harvested, their meat is used as sustenance and their shells are used for tools, jewelry, weapons, ceremonial objects, and even construction materials.

You can tour the conch farm, see and touch the conches in their nurseries and, of course, enjoy eating some conch yourself!

Live on Grace Bay Beach

Grace Bay Beach has been voted as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and you can find some fantastic accommodation options which have you staying right on this world-renowned beach.

If you want to enjoy Turks and Caicos in style, getting an oceanfront room on Grace Bay is always a good option so that you can take in the spectacular views and tranquil vibes.
